Good Girl Gone Bad?

While perusing the blogging community I came across a post by Black Girls Are Easy, “Dating vs. Come Over and Chill”. I don’t believe in dating at the house. I think dating should involve an activity in public; one that gives an opportunity to get to know one another without pressure. I believe that women sell themselves short when they choose to date at the house.  Black Girls Are Easy seems to share the same sentiment but they took a twist that left me shaking my head and considering my good girl stance when it comes to men and dating. I will share the highlights of the article but I suggest every girl who dates to check it out.

The Hoe vs. The Classy Girl

THE HOE, as defined by Black Girls Are Easy:

When one thinks of a Hoe you think of a sexually promiscuous woman, a woman who has sex for cars, clothes, and money. But the blog defines the HOE as a woman who knows her worth, a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it, and a woman who demands the very best and in return and gets the very best.

The Classy Girl, as defined by Black Girls Are Easy :

When one thinks of a Classy Girl, you think of a woman who is modest, a woman who is looking for love and commitment. But the blog suggest the Classy Girl is a woman who in pursuit of having love, but doesn’t necessarily know her worth. She’s a woman who will compromise her values to make sure her man is happy. She does not want to rock the boat. If a man suggests an at home date she might go along with the notion to solidify her spot in his life. The Good Girl tends to place the man’s desires before her own.

Hoes stay winning!  Typically I would roll my eyes and suck my teeth at a comment that bashes women for having the same qualities as men; I can’t help it because I am a feminist to the core. Today, after reading the blog, I have a new respect for the Hoes of the world.  As I read this article my mind was reeling. I am a good girl. I want a man to know that I like him because of him and not what he has to offer. I can think of conversations with friends about men and thinking a man wants a down girl not a girl who is too demanding. According to this article a man wants a woman who knows what she wants. As I compare the two I think it’s time for me to join the HOE CAMP.

What do you think?
